These cookies are very easy to make and are a staple during the holiday season at my home!
Greek Butter Cookies
1 c butter
4 T confectioners sugar
2 c flour
1 c chopped walnuts
2 T water
2 t vanilla
1/3 c confectioners sugar for rolling
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream butter and sugar. Blend in flour, stir in nuts, water and vanilla. Mix well.
Shape into balls (I used a cookie scoop).
Bake at 350 for 20 minuets.
When still warm roll into confectioners sugar. Let cool and enjoy!
1 c sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 c evaporated milk
1 T water
2 1/2 c shelled walnuts
1 t vanilla
Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a saucepan, add evaporated milk diluted with water. Cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat when the temperature is at 236 degrees on a candy thermometer or the soft ball stage (rolling boil, this is really just a judgement call if you don't have a candy thermometer).
Add the walnuts and vanilla. Stir until the mixture has coated the walnuts. Turn out onto wax paper and separate the walnuts. Let cool and enjoy! These can be frozen as well!!
