day 5: favorite quote

I don't have a favorite quote. Never been much of a quote person. The only things I could honestly think of when writing this post were quotes from Yo, Gabba Gabba and Olivia. I obviously watch to many kids shows.

day 4: favorite book

I have a few different favorite books. I read mostly "pretty covers" lol. I just like the way some books look so I buy them. I don't have much brain power left for a hard thinking book so I like books that are kinda silly and girly. However I would have to say that my favorite books growing up are these listed below.

She's Come Undone - Wally Lamb. This is a good book, a long book. I read this as a freshman in college.

Are You There God? It's me Margaret - Judy Blume I don't think you can be a girl in the 1980's and not read a Judy Blume book. I read this in 6th grade and read a few other times.

Alphabet Series - Sue Grafton. I love all Sue Grafton's books. I started with M in high school and loved it so I went back and started with A and haven't stopped since. I have caught up and have to wait each year for her next book to come out.

day 3: favorite teacher

I don't think I have 1 teacher who stands out to me. I've had good teachers at every school I attend. I had a a fun 1st grade teacher, great history teacher in high school, and a great costume professor in college.

I've never had anyone really stand out. I have had adults in my life who had made a difference and they were teachers in some ways.

day 2 - your definition of success

My definition of success...that's a hard one. I feel successful however I doubt I am what the world would see as successful. I have a degree in Theatre Design and Production with a concentration in costume design (woo, that's a mouthful). After college I moved to Richmond, VA and started to work in the accounting department of an advertising agency. I only worked for a bit over a year before we moved to Kansas. In Kansas I had Ethan and became a stay at home mom. I've been doing this mommy business since 2008.

I would like to find a job. I would like to set us up financially to have zero debt (including but not limited to those pesky student loans). I would like to not be stressed about working after Sohel retires from the USMC in 2023. However my kids come first and I need to make sure that they have a stable home and with looming deployments and TAD assignments in FL, one parent needs to be home. So I need to find that perfect job. The one that allows me to be at home at night, allows me to maybe even work at home.

Right now my plan is it to start the teacher licenser program and then get my masters.

day 1 biggest accomplishment

My biggest accomplishment would be having my kids. They are so fun and such amazing little people. Sometimes I just look at them and I'm amazed that my husband and I made them.

09.22.08 - 10:15am
7lbs 4oz - 19in

This pregnancy was pretty easy going. I had a loss 2 months before conceiving Ethan so I was pretty nervous the entire pregnancy. Early on I had a close call with losing this pregnancy but after taking some meds my HCG levels increased. At 20 weeks we went for our big ultrasound and found out that Ethan had a two vessel cord . With all the complications that could have happened during that pregnancy he was born in a quick 5 hour labor 15 days early with only a webbed toe. But trust me that toe doesn't slow him down!!

Second Birthday

03.31.10 - 3:00pm
6lbs 1oz - 19in

This pregnancy wasn't really planned, but it certainly was welcomed! Ethan was only 10 months old, we wanted 2 kids but not so close together, however we were happy to find out. About 10 weeks in I started to have cramping and bleeding. I thought it was another miscarriage. My hubby was working in DC (I was in NC) and had been for the past 4 months so I asked the neighbor to watch Ethan (he was sleeping) and his wife drove me to the hospital. After waiting for 6 hours I was told I was pregnant with twins. OMG! I was diagnosed with a Blighted Ovum. I had 2 sacs, one with a baby and one that was empty. I was told to wait it out. Everything after that night was normal. At 20 weeks Lily wouldn't open her legs so we went to get a 3-D ultrasound and after 1 Frosty she revealed herself! Lily was born 20 days early and was a smooth and easy labor of 6 hours. We have had a few medical issues with her mainly reflux and colic but finally at 10 months old we have been making some progress.

I'm honored to have these kids in my life and can't wait to see what the rest of our lives involve!

Been awhile...

We have been busy. We have been coordinating a move 3.5 hours away to Jacksonville, NC. Trying to find a house, preschool and dealing with all things military can take a toll on your free time :) I can't wait to move, I love this house. I would buy it if I could.

Lily is officially a crawler!! Woot! 2 days after she started to crawl she started to cruise the couch. I'm not ready for her to be a big girl. I have started to plan her birthday, crazy! We are having a cookie and milk theme. I found it on A. Party Style and LOVED it.

Ethan is still his crazy self. He had a ton of fun on Christmas and we enjoyed watching him open all his presents (mostly cars and car stuff). He is so fun but such a stinker!
